Brusdar Graterol (shoulder) allowed one run over one inning on Tuesday in a minor league rehab appearance in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Graterol has made a pair of rehab appearances over the last week as he begins to ramp up towards a late-season return to the Dodgers’ bullpen mix. The hard-throwing 25-year-old reliever has been on the shelf since spring training due to right shoulder inflammation.

Dodgers sent LHP Jose Hernandez outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Hernandez passed through waivers unclaimed during the All-Star break just a couple weeks after being scooped up off waivers from the Pirates. The 26-year-old southpaw holds a serviceable 4.82 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 66/26 K/BB ratio across 56 innings (57 appearances) over the last two seasons in the majors. He’ll remain with Los Angeles as extra organizational relief depth.

Shohei Ohtani walloped a three-run homer during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field.

Ohtani connected on a center-cut heater from Red Sox starter Tanner Houck, launching a colossal 400-foot no-doubter to right field, putting the National League ahead in the early stages of the Midsummer Classic. The 30-year-old two-way superstar became the first Dodger to homer in the All-Star Game since Mike Piazza back in 1996. It’s yet another signature moment for his end-of-career highlight reel.

Dodgers optioned RHP Michael Petersen to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Peterson will head back to the minors during the All-Star break after compiling a serviceable 4.50 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 8/7 K/BB ratio across 12 innings (nine appearances) for the Dodgers over the last few weeks.

Teoscar Hernández won the Home Run Derby on Monday, beating Bobby Witt Jr. 14-13 in the finals.

Witt came up just a few feet short on his final swing of going to a swing off. MLB’s new format tonight helped prevent any standout performances by adding a clock and a pitch limit, and Alec Bohm’s 21-homer showing as the very first batter in the first round actually ended up as the biggest number of the night. Still, it made for a close competition, and everything was very much in doubt until the very end. Hernández barely survived the semis after Bohm faltered on his final few swings and then edged Witt in the shorter final round.

Shohei Ohtani said decided to sit out the Home Run Derby as a “load issue,” and that he could participate next year.

Ohtani has been taking less batting practice than usual this year as he makes his way back from Tommy John surgery. Taking a whole bunch of home run cuts tonight probably wasn’t in his best interests.

Dodgers selected Hardee HS (FL) SS Kellon Lindsey with the No. 23 selection of the 2024 MLB Draft.

Lindsey’s calling card is his speed, and that makes him just as intriguing -- if not more so -- of a fantasy prospect as he is a “real life” one because of the chance to be a stolen base leader someday. In order to reach that stature, he’s going to have to be able to get on base, and the 18-year-old has a quick stroke conducive to hitting line drives to all parts of the park. There are power questions, but at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds and with quick wrists, he could develop average pop. Even without it, Lindsey is an excellent fantasy target because of a chance to steal bases, hit for average and potentially score some runs.
Yohan Ramirez

Yohan Ramírez took his second blown save after committing two errors and giving up two runs — one earned — in the ninth Sunday against the Tigers.

Ramírez pitched a scoreless eighth, and the Dodgers opted to leave him in for the ninth with Evan Phillips definitely unavailable and Daniel Hudson also going unused. He went on to give up a leadoff triple and an RBI single to tie the game. He then botched consecutive sac bunts, throwing the ball away on the second to allow the winning run to score from second. It went as his fifth loss in addition to his second blown save.
James Outman

LAD Center Fielder #33

James Outman went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before being pulled for a pinch-hitter Sunday against the Tigers.

Outman went 3-for-5 in his first two games back in the majors, but he’s 0-for-8 with seven strikeouts since. Jason Heyward could rejoin the Dodgers on Friday, and Outman hasn’t made much of a case for sticking around.
Daniel Hudson

Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters after Sunday’s game that Daniel Hudson was unavailable for Sunday’s first half finale against the Tigers due to soreness in his back.

The Dodgers don’t sound overly concerned about the injury and are hopeful that the time off over the All-Star break will cure what ails him. It’s something that fantasy managers should monitor though heading into next week.
