Rockies released RHP Tyler Danish.

Danish was cut loose earlier this week after posting a stratospheric 7.71 ERA, 2.32 WHIP and 26/31 K/BB ratio across 39 2/3 innings (11 appearances, 10 starts) for Triple-A Albuquerque in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. The 29-year-old former second-round pick from the 2013 MLB Draft made a career-high 32 relief appearances for the Red Sox during the 2022 season.

Rockies sent LHP Josh Rogers outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Rogers has the option to elect free agency after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 30-year-old southpaw made five relief appearances for the Rockies earlier this year prior to be designated for assignment earlier this week.

Rockies claimed LHP Antoine Kelly off waivers from the Rangers.

Kelly represents an interesting lottery ticket for the Rockies as a former second-round pick from the 2019 MLB Draft. The 24-year-old southpaw has converted to a full-time relief role and showed some real promise last year in the upper minors with a 2.04 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 79/23 K/BB ratio across 57 13/ innings (49 appearances) between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. He’s been limited to just 19 relief outings this year in the minors due to injury.

Rockies designated LHP Josh Rogers for assignment.

The move opened up a spot on Colorado’s 40-man roster earlier this week for the club to claim Antoine Kelly from the Rangers. Rogers has made just five relief appearances this season in his Rockies debut. The 30-year-old lefty could wind up sticking around as extra organizational depth if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Rockies selected Georgia 3B/OF Charlie Condon with the No. 3 pick of the 2024 MLB Draft.

Condon put up spectacular numbers in his two seasons with the Bulldogs, and finished 2024 with 37 homers and a 1.565 OPS that was buoyed by a 1.009 slugging percentage. Obviously the power is the calling card for the 21-year-old -- he turns 22 in April -- but he does have the swing to suggest he can hit for average as well without a huge amount of swing-and-miss in his profile. He won’t provide many stolen bases, but whether he ends up at third, a corner-outfield spot or even first base, he’s an absolute must-have in fantasy formats, especially with the added benefit of his new home park.

Michael Toglia went 3-for-4 with three solo home runs in an 8-5 win over the Mets on Sunday.

Toglia gives new meaning to the phrase “all-or-nothing” hitter. His three home runs on Sunday gave him six on the Rockies’ seven game road trip. Toglia had just six hits in total on this trip! He’s also up to 16 homers on the season and has 34 total hits. That means 47% of his total hits this season have left the yard. His last single came on July 7th and his last double on June 17th. That is unbelievable.
Victor Vodnik

Victor Vodnik allowed two hits with a walk and a strikeout across 1 2/3 innings on Sunday against the Mets to earn the save.

Vodnik steadied this game after Jalen Beeks nearly let the Mets back into it in the eighth inning. Then he ran into some trouble of his own before nailing down his second save of the season. In terms of pure stuff, Vodnik and Justin Lawrence are a step above the rest of the Rockies’ bullpen despite neither getting the bulk of save opportunities.

Germán Márquez lasted four innings in his season-debut on Sunday against the Mets. He allowed three earned runs, walked four, and struck out three in a no-decision.

Márquez made his first start since April 26th, 2023 as he’s been recovering form Tommy John surgery. He pitched fine before totally losing his command in a fourth inning where he issued three walks, one which forced a run home, and two-run homer to Pete Alonso. Still, this was as good a start as one could expect after a 15-month layoff. He also became the Rockies’ all-time leader in strikeouts in this game!

COL Relief Pitcher #60

Rockies reinstated LHP Josh Rogers off the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Rogers will continue to pitch in Triple-A, but now not in a rehab role. The 30-year-old was placed on the injured list with a strained left rotator cuff, and probably will see time with the Rockies again before the season comes to a close.

Rockies optioned Angel Chivilli to Double-A Hartford.

You don’t see many pitcher go back-and-forth between Double-A and the majors multiple times, but the Rockies seem committed to not have Chvilli pitch in Triple-A. The 21-year-old could be back as bullpen depth before the end of 2024.
