  • CWS Catcher #15
Maldonado remains one of the better defensive catchers in baseball, despite his advanced age, but that doesn’t really matter for fantasy purposes where he’s been a complete non-factor for years. The 37-year-old backstop figures to have some appeal for a contender as a backup option given his defensive prowess, but he’s not going to have any sort of impact for fantasy managers, regardless of where he winds up next. According to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times, it’ll be Chuckie Robinson coming up from Triple-A Charlotte to take his roster spot following the All-Star break.
  • CWS Center Fielder #13
The deal is now official. With Yoán Moncada (adductor) due back at some point next month, and Lenyn Sosa heading to the minors, it seems like the White Sox are going to give Senzel some runway at second base coming out of the All-Star break. The former second-overall pick from the 2016 MLB Draft never quite lived up to those lofty expectations with Cincinnati and was cut loose earlier this month by the Nationals after posting a .663 OPS with seven homers and one steal in 64 games. The 29-year-old has undoubtedly underwhelmed to this point in his career, but he represents a worthwhile reclamation project for the White Sox over the next few months.
  • CWS Shortstop #50
Sosa heads back to the minors with the White Sox adding Nick Senzel to their infield mix coming out of the All-Star break. The 24-year-old has batted .237/.274/.350 with four homers and three steals in 187 plate appearances over 52 games this season at the highest level.
  • CWS Second Baseman #0
Mendick has been jettisoned from Chicago’s active roster to make room for newly-signed infielder Nick Senzel. The 30-year-old signed a minor league deal with the White Sox back in February and wound up hitting .197/.243/.318 with three homers and six steals across 141 plate appearances in 47 games.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #45
It’ll be Chris Flexen, Jonathan Cannon and Drew Thorpe taking the ball during a three-game set against the Royals before Erick Fedde and Crochet draw their first second-half starts against the Rangers. The 25-year-old southpaw, who excelled earlier this week in the Midsummer Classic, figures to be one of the biggest names potentially on the move at the trade deadline. This could wind up being his final outing in a White Sox uniform.
  • FA First Baseman #21
Walsh inked a minor league contract with Chicago back in late April and never wound up making it back to the big leagues. The 30-year-old, who got into 17 contests earlier this year for the Rangers, was an impactful fantasy contributor earlier in his career, but it’s been derailed the last few years due to injury and his prodigious over-the-fence pop has never quite returned. There’s still a chance another organization is willing to bring him in as a potential reclamation project, but he’s probably running out of chances, especially since he’s struggled this season at the Triple-A level.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #45
Crochet, arguably the hottest name in trade rumors at the moment, one-out single from Alec Bohm to work a scoreless fourth inning. He got a pretty strikeout of Teoscar Hernández in the frame as well. The 25-year-old left-hander, who has paired an astronomical 35 percent strikeout rate with a microscopic 5 percent walk rate, could be a difference-maker in the playoff race, depending on where he winds up in a few weeks.
  • FA Center Fielder #13
No word yet on the exact nature of the deal, but it could be a big-league pact for Senzel, who was released last week by the Nationals. The 29-year-old former top prospect, who was the second-overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, posted a pedestrian .663 OPS with seven homers and one steal across 235 plate appearances this season for Washington. He’s not a bad reclamation project for a rebuilding franchise.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher
Smith was far from an unknown coming into the draft, but he certainly saw his stock rise after improving his ERA from 3.64 from the previous season to a 2.04 mark in 2024, and increasing his strikeouts from 109 to 161. The southpaw hurler has two pitches that have a chance to grade 70 on the 20-80 scouting scale in his fastball (93-96 mph and occasionally up to 100), and slider, and he’ll also show a decent splitter for good measure. A less-than-picturesque delivery creates deception, but also can create some command issues at times. Smith should be able to miss bats at the highest level, and he just might be the best pitching prospect in this draft.
  • CWS Center Fielder #88
Robert did what he could for the White Sox on Sunday with three hard-hit balls that all turned into singles along with two walks. The walks are especially interesting: this was the fourth time Robert has walked twice in a game since returning from injury. He only walked twice in a single game three times all of last season. In what’s been a “bad” season, Robert’s OPS is up to .804 in 43 games played.
