Corbin Burnes will start for the American League in the All-Star Game.

We’re guessing he’ll just go one, but Burnes was the last pitcher to throw more than one inning in the All-Star Game; he worked the second and third behind Max Scherzer for the NL In 2021, giving up two runs and taking the loss. Paul Skenes was already announced as the NL starter.
Griff O'Ferrall

Orioles selected Virginia SS Griff O’Ferrall with the No. 32 selection of the 2024 MLB Draft.

O’Ferrall wasn’t quite as good in 2024 as his 2023 campaign with an .821 OPS this spring compared to a .948 mark the previous year, and he’s a hitter who only registered eight homers in his collegiate career. While he likely won’t pile up the long balls, he does have a swing that is conducive to making contact, and once on base he has the speed to be a stolen base threat with 50 thefts over his three years with the Cavaliers. He’s also a strong defensive player, and that should allow him to move quickly through the system. Barring a swing change, however, it’s hard to see him being much more than a bench option on fantasy rosters.

Orioles selected North Carolina OF Vance Honeycutt with the No. 22 selection of the 2024 MLB Draft.

Honeycutt is considered one of the more volatile prospects in this class, but the fantasy upside is obvious. This is a player that hit 65 homers in his three years with the Tar Heels, and he swatted 28 roundtrippers while stealing 28 bags in 32 attempts over his 62 games in 2024. He also hit .318, but that type of average seems unlikely because of contact issues. Contact issues is a bit of an understatement considering he struck out 83 times in 255 at-bats and 224 times over his 176 games with UNC. The power/speed combination is very appealing, but just keep in mind that it comes with a great deal of risk.
Cedric Mullins

Cedric Mullins delivered a go-ahead two-run double in the bottom of the ninth as the Orioles shocked the Yankees with a 6-5 victory.

It will down as a double, but it certainly could have been ruled an error. Left fielder Alex Verdugo had a legitimate chance to catch the fly ball, but he stumbled and the ball went over his head. Either way, the Orioles will take it with their recent issues with runners in scoring position. After avoiding the sweep, the Orioles will go into the All-Star break with a one-game lead over the Yankees in the AL East.
Craig Kimbrel

Craig Kimbrel blew a save Sunday against the Yankees after allowing a three-run homer to Ben Rice in the top of the ninth.

Kimbrel found himself in immediate trouble after walking back-to-back batters to begin the frame before serving up the go-ahead blast to Rice. The Yankees would go on to blow the lead in the bottom of the ninth due to a pair of defensive miscues, so Kimbrel actually got the win. Baseball, man. This was Kimbrel’s first appearance in a week and he had allowed just one run over his last 21 innings coming into Sunday’s action, so fantasy managers shouldn’t overact to one bad outing.
Dean Kremer

BAL Starting Pitcher #64

Dean Kremer didn’t factor into the decision after allowing two runs over 4 2/3 innings against the Yankees on Sunday.

It was Trent Grisham — of all people — who did all of the damage against Kremer, plating a run with a single in the second before adding a solo homer in the fifth. Kremer allowed four hits and two walks while hitting a batter (Aaron Judge) and striking out four. The 28-year-old impressed in his return from the injured list on July 3, but he’s been spotty in his last two starts. Consider him a matchup play in fantasy leagues.
Gunnar Henderson

Gunnar Henderson clubbed his 28th homer of the season Sunday against the Yankees.

Henderson took Carlos Rodon deep for a two-run shot in the third inning. With that blast, he’s already equaled his home run total from his entire rookie season. It’s scary to think about what his ceiling could be. Next up for Henderson is an appointment in the Home Run Derby on Monday in Arlington, Texas.
Anthony Santander

Anthony Santander homered and tripled in Sunday’s comeback win over the Yankees.

Santander put the Orioles ahead at the time with a solo shot to right field in the fifth inning which landed on Eutaw St. The first-time All-Star has 24 home runs to his name and appears poised to blow away his career-high of 33 homers from 2022
Austin Hays

Austin Hays (adductor) is hitting sixth and playing left field against the Yankees on Sunday.

Hays left Saturday’s game with adductor soreness, but it was viewed as precautionary, and that’s obviously the case with the outfielder back in the lineup. The Orioles will go with their right-handed heavy lineup against lefty Carlos Rodon, so Hays is in with Ryan O’Hearn taking a seat.

Austin Hays was pulled from Saturday’s game against the Yankees in the seventh inning due to adductor soreness.

No word from the Orioles yet on the severity of the injury or how much time (if any) Hays will be forced to miss. It’s highly likely that he’ll sit out Sunday’s first half finale though. Hays had been 1-for-2 with a single and a strikeout prior to exiting on Saturday.
